IDC’s new paper ‘Evolution of outsourced testing – from cost control to value generation’ has been sponsored by Capita.
Outsourced testing is playing a larger role in organisational change in a similar way to BPO services.
According to research by IDC, quality assurance and testing functions in the UK are maturing and there is a shift from the tactical and ad-hoc to more strategic and centralised functions. However, many organisations still adopt a staff augmentation model when using third party testing services. While this is a valid approach, it is tactical, and does not drive through early identification and management of risk to achieve required business outcomes.
The paper explores current challenges facing UK QA managers and examines how organisations can exploit third party testing services to enable significant QA transformation beyond cost reduction:
- Why transform the testing function?
- The path to QA transformation
- Lessons learnt and key success factors for successful QA transformation
