I joined Capita Assurance and Testing as a Consultant in June 2007 prior to which I had been a test team leader on Government benefit systems. After 14 years working on Government accounts I decided that it was time to expand my horizons and experience life in the outside world.
Having met and spoken to several Capita Assurance and Testing Consultants I felt that the company would provide me with the fresh challenges and opportunities that I was looking for and over my first year and a half with Capita Assurance and Testing this has certainly been the case - I have now worked with a variety of clients in very diverse fields, from banking related systems to high end digital projection systems.
I have learnt a lot in my short time with Capita Assurance and Testing which has resulted in my recent promotion to Senior Consultant and my current role as Test Manager for a leading IT provider to customers within the public safety sector. Capita Assurance and Testing provides me with real opportunities to develop my skill set further and each new client provides new experiences and fresh challenges.
I joined Capita Assurance and Testing in October 2006; prior to this I worked as a Test Analyst within the financial services sector. As I have had experience of insurance systems, my first placement with Capita Assurance and Testing is working for an established insurance company.
The decision to join Capita Assurance and Testing was not difficult. I welcomed the opportunity to work with different companies, in different market sectors, and to broaden my experience. I am keen to develop, not only my knowledge of software and testing, but also to enhance my softer management skills like relationship building and communicating with senior professionals on client sites. The aim is to advance my professional reputation within Capita Assurance and Testing and amongst our clients.

I began my career with Capita Assurance and Testing by joining the graduate scheme in 2006. Holding a degree in Information Engineering, I was keen to develop a career that would challenge me technically and provide opportunities for personal advancement – testing, and Capita Assurance and Testing, seemed a good fit.
Over the past three years at Capita Assurance and Testing, my career has developed faster than I could have imagined. I have been lucky enough to have worked alongside some of the best Test Consultants in the business who haven’t been afraid to give me challenging and high profile roles. To illustrate this, I have just completed a project at a multinational company in the financial services industry as team lead of a team of ten. My duties included resourcing, planning and estimation, monitoring and control, and test strategy and test plan creation. I am eager to develop these ‘project management’ skills further.
Capita Assurance and Testing has also provided the theoretical knowledge to back up and reinforce the practical experience I have gained – I am ISEB certified to Intermediate Level and have just completed the ISEB Practitioner Level, with fingers crossed that I pass the exam for this industry standard qualification.
I have found the culture at Capita Assurance and Testing to be forward thinking and supportive. To that end, I am confident that my personal drive for self improvement and career development is well matched to Capita Assurance and Testing and I look forward to my next engagement as Test Lead for an automation project in the pharmaceuticals industry.
I joined Capita Assurance and Testing one year ago, prior to which I had been an Applications Developer and Tester within the documentation, information and content solutions industry. Just prior to this I had been travelling around Taiwan and South East Asia for 18 months teaching English!
My current role at Capita Assurance and Testing is as a senior Test Analyst. Initially, I performed Test Analyst activities on proprietary XML-Postscript (Doc1) conversion software. Soon after, I progressed into multiple roles, from Senior Test Analyst, working with a variety of interfaces, to team lead with responsibilities including planning, estimating test effort and assessing requirements.
I joined Capita Assurance and Testing because they immediately stood out from other software testing consultancies. The recruiters knew testing and the market for testing roles. They found me a role that matched my skills and aspirations, and genuinely seemed to care about my future success.
I enjoy working for Capita Assurance and Testing as the roles I have been given have allowed me to develop new skills and have provided me with a constantly evolving and challenging work environment. I am currently in the process of taking on a new team lead role, and I hope that within the next few years this development will lead me into more senior test management roles.
Having worked in the Government Operations and IT sector for 16 years, I was looking for a new challenge. I joined Capita Assurance and Testing in April 2007 and I can say that it was the best move I made and I now work with some of the best people I’ve known.
My role in Capita Assurance and Testing is part of the Specialist Testing Practice looking at performance and non-functional testing. The role has allowed me to work with clients in the financial and Government sectors in the North of England and provided me with fresh challenges and the chance to continue to develop my career.
Although the practice I work for is spread across the UK, everyone is contactable and remote support is provided to all. This is vital when you can be on a client site on your own and it really does make you feel part of a bigger team.
One of the biggest differences I have experienced working for Capita Assurance and Testing, is that your individual contribution is recognised and valued. You really do feel that the work you do makes a difference to the success of Capita Assurance and Testing and to the clients we are work for.
I started my career at Capita Assurance and Testing in April 2007, as a Consultant in the Technical Delivery practice. Having worked for two small test consultancies prior to Capita Assurance and Testing , I found myself searching for a role in a larger company that would allow me to develop and broaden my knowledge and experience, whilst still retaining the interpersonal relationships normally encountered within a small firm. With Performance Testing being a relatively specialised sector within the IT industry, I had encountered several previous Mission employees ‘in the field’. The professionalism of these people, coupled with the high regard they held for the company, allowed me to make the decision that Capita Assurance and Testing was exactly the sort of consultancy I was looking for.
The standard of the Consultants are, without a doubt, some of the best I have worked with. The breadth of knowledge within the team, and the fact that every member has so much experience to bring to the table, allows for the continual improvement of not only individuals and divisions, but the company as a whole.
Exposure to new tool sets and technologies has allowed me to develop myself technically, and has enabled me to provide a much better client service at many more stages in the process whether this is helping to make tool decisions or utilising currently implemented tool sets.
I have found my time at Capita Assurance and Testing a challenging, yet highly rewarding experience where the opportunities I have been given have already allowed me to progress to a Senior Consultant.
